Luxury Holidays in Delwara

Sacred, scenic Aravalli hillside village

Nestled in Rajasthan’s majestic Aravalli Hills, the picturesque village of Delwara retains its authentic, North Indian culture. Here, life continues as it has done for centuries, in an almost medieval rural society where bullocks still pull wooden ploughs to till the land.

Delwara is famously home to a host of astonishingly well-preserved 11th-15th century temples – exquisitely carved marble shrines depicting scenes from Jain and Hindu mythology. Nearby, magnificent Lake Bapparawal lies in beautiful surroundings, while visitors can trek from Delwara through the area’s stunning countryside on camel or horseback.

This 450-year-old village has a varied community comprising Jhalas, Patels, Gametis, Muslims and Jains. Most of Delwara’s inhabitants work in traditional agriculture, tending fields among this area’s magnificent, unspoiled landscape.
