Romance and beauty in the ‘City of Lakes’

With its stunning backdrop of rising hills and sprawling lakes, Udaipur is a magnificent and beautiful destination – one of the world’s most romantic cities. Known as the ‘City of Lakes’ and set amidst Rajasthan’s Aravalli Hills, this is the historic capital of the former kingdom of Mewar.

Also referred to as the ‘Venice of The East’, Udaipur’s magical, ornate temples rise from its streets, as huge forts tower above, silhouetted by the sun. Palaces and paradise gardens beckon, and vast lakes invite you for a moonlit evening boatride.

Udaipur is also a centre for performing arts, craft and its famed miniature paintings; the city appears in Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book and provided the location for James Bond’s Octopussy.
