South Africa - Cape Town and the Winelands

Arranged between the dramatic spectre of Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Town stretches back from the colonial Victoria and Albert Waterfront, unravelling a cosmopolitan landscape of beach playgrounds, delightful suburbs and wonderful nature parks.

An abundance of excellent restaurants and a lively arts scene brings Cape Town to life throughout the year, while winter months see the annual arrival of the Southern Right Whale to these temperate coastal waters. To fully appreciate the beauty of one of the world’s greatest cities, take a cable car to the summit of Table Mountain where the spectacular views extend out to Robben Island.

The mountains and valleys of the Winelands are a mere 45 minute drive from Cape Town. In and around the rural towns of Franschoek, Stellenbosch, and Paarl, stay in a gracious gabled homestead, an 18th century manor house or a Cape Dutch style wine estate, while you explore the delights of surrounding vineyards.

Moving east across the orange plains of the Western Cape’s interior you suddenly reach the fertile valleys of Little Karoo. Slightly off the tourist trail, this peaceful countryside is home to the Sanbona Wildlife Reserve with its free roaming big cats.
